  1. I'm in and will be playing once we're back next week from holiday. I was terrible at the first game. I didn't finish the game and maybe levelled to 23? I found some areas and specific bad guys incredibly hard. Still, I far prefer a tactical shooter like this over the COD's. Ray and @BrewGuy are also on XB1. If you haven't played with Brewguy you are seriously missing out.
  2. Here's another review from GameSpawn that was posted today. 9 / 10. I get that games like these are tougher to review thoroughly. And in the media there's always pressure to be the first to market to get the ever so precious clicks. These reviews certainly cite the same criticisms as others do. It just makes me wonder, you know?
  3. The past few days have seemingly brought a bit of new, positive coverage of Anthem. Thumbculture's review posted last Thursday. WellPlayed posted this article yesterday. XboxHub gave it 4/5 in a review posted March 3rd. Even CNet has positive words in an article posted last Thursday. GameHaunt gave it 4.5/5 in a review posted last Thursday. Ulvespill gave it an above-the-Metacritic-average 7.6/10 in their review dated March 3rd. Even our friends at COG Connected had a positive article about it (again posted on March 3rd) Coincidence? Are opinions changing now that people are digging in to the game a bit more? Has EA been trying to influence opinion? (It happens. I've experienced it personally.)
  4. In 2005 podcasting was really in its infancy (Apple began adding podcasts to iTunes in June of that year). Always ahead of the curve, a few of the Smurfs decided to try their hand at podcasting. In this first episode the guys discuss the (at the time) new Xbox 360 console. There's a lot of great moments throughout. Right around the 16:05 mark Havoc refers to the OG Xbox as the "Xbox 1". Prophetic? Listen to episode 1 here.
  5. That's cool. I like that sort of detail, especially when it comes to a game's sound. I've long thought that how a game sounds is one of the most important elements in making a game immersive.
  6. On July 1, 2003, it was suggested on the official Xbox forums that a bunch of Canadians get together online to celebrate Canada Day with a big game of Midtown Madness 3. The game was a big hit and spawned its own MSN group sites two days later. On July 3, 2003 Xbox Canadian Live (XCL) was born. Xbox Live was hardly 8 months old at the time. While the novelty of playing online against real people was thrilling, XCL took it to a whole other level. With a trove of incredible memories and real life friendships that endure nearly 16 years later, XCL introduced me to the positivity that video games can create. Heck, GameCanadian wouldn't exist today if it weren't for XCL. XCL existed several different forms over the years. This is my attempt to preserve as much as I can of it. If you have photos, videos or anything you want to contribute please get in touch.
  7. I've only played Apex a couple of times now, right in the first week of it being released. I never really enjoyed the building aspect of Fortnite, never got proficient at it and therefore never really used it while playing other than building a set of stairs to get somewhere or clumsily throwing up a wall if being shot at. I like that Apex's focus isn't on that. I did hear an interesting comment from another player the other day. They said they thought the guns were too loud. If you get in a skirmish with another squad it tends to attract a bunch of other squads looking to swoop in and maybe pick up the scraps. Maybe that's by design?
  8. @Qwazyd0gg, we're working on improving our blog section to allow us to feature and promote content we think is good and fits within our concept. The type of thing you're doing here would be perfect for it. Would you be interested in posting these types of things there if we set it up for you?
  9. Kingdom Hearts fans have been waiting a long time to finally get some closure since the series began back in 2002. Announced back in 2005, has the decade long wait for this anticipated sequel lived up to all the hype? Click here to read Xbox Addict's full review.
  10. Why such a slow up? Telus' fibre connection here is the same up as it is down. That's why I ask.
  11. I understand there's a certain level of expectation when a game has been in development for as long as this one has. All the delays have created a negative perception of the game that is impossible to overcome. Reading many of the reviews, they seem to compare the game to current open-world and looter-shooter designs. I think that's missing the point with Crackdown. This game is fantastic. I'm not a big nostalgia guy but this on brings back all the fun feel I remember from the original. I don't think it needs to be more than that.
  12. I always thought this was something with my mobile browser? You're saying this is on purpose for people to get more clicks? Ugh.
  13. I played it when it first came out. There wasn't much to it and you were left to figure out a lot of stuff on your own. From what I understand now, the updates and DLC have increased the things you can do and improved the game greatly. I even read it recently took over being the top-viewed game on Twitch.
  14. As much as I love Nintendo and Mario, if there is one thing that bothers me about them is that they are masters at repackaging games and hardware with new names at full prices. 3DS, 3DS XL, "New" 3DS XL. Same thing with games like this. After playing AstroBot Rescue Missions I want Mario in VR!
  15. Not a song in particular but lately I've been listening to a ton of Gary Cherone. Yes, that Gary Cherone. Crazy good singer.
